The true story of Pfc. Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who won the Congressional Medal of Honor despite refusing to bear arms during WWII on religious grounds. Doss was drafted and ostracized by fellow soldiers for his pacifist stance but went on to earn respect and adoration for his bravery, selflessness and compassion after he risked his life -- without firing a shot -- to save 75 men in the Battle of Okinawa.

Redemptive Analogy

This is a powerful story of a Christian war hero. Desmond Doss was a man who was moved by an unwavering faith in God to adhere to his biblical beliefs in the face of overwhelming opposition. As we relive The Battle of Okinawa, one of the bloodiest battles of World War II, this movie renews in us God’s passion to see people saved. And by Doss’ example, we learn how – that we don’t have to fight like everybody else does. Instead of taking life, we can save lives. As followers of Jesus, we are called to courageously share the life-giving message of salvation found in Him – and with His help, rescue as many people as possible for eternal life.
